Our 2015 International Junior Miss Jr. Teen is Mayalisa Cousins from Kissimmee, Florida. She is currently a Junior at the Osceola County School for the Arts majoring in Music.
Her passion for music started at the age of 10 when she began her journey as a piano player. Now, because of her schooling in both classical and jazz she has earned her spot in the elite bands at her school. She is skilled at the piano, trumpet, and various percussion instruments receiving superior ratings at the "Solo and Ensemble" competition for her solo and ensemble pieces 6 years in a row. However, aside from being a musician she is capable of balancing her academics, as she is apart of the AP and Honors Program.
Mayalisa also loves hitting the beach with her family and friends, participating in competitive marksmanship, modeling ,and volunteering. Over the years, she has volunteered with many organizations including Give Kids the World, The Ronald McDonald house, Nice Serve, Children's Home Society, and is a Youth Ambassador for VH1 Save the Music Foundation. She has also stated her modeling and commercial career featured in Vera Bradley Back to School Campaign, Scholastic Books, Phantom Flyer, and Universal's Cabana Bay Resort.
Mayalisa is honored, ecstatic, and blessed by the grace of God to be the International Junior Miss Jr Teen, which has given her the platform to encourage others through the IJM sisterhood and carry out her ambitious desires.
