Education has been something that has been instilled in me at such a young age.
When I was three, I remember my dad telling me the importance of going to college. You'll get a kick out of what I said back to him, "But Daddy, I'm not even in kindergarten yet!" (LOL.). Fast forward 16 years later, I am on track to preparing for my college journey and my dream career of becoming a broadcast journalist.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the top journalism school in the nation, University of Missouri, or mostly recognized as "Mizzou". Let me tell you, I was thoroughly impressed! From the beautiful campus to the amazing study abroad opportunities they offer to their students, Mizzou is somewhere I can really see myself thriving in the world of journalism and communications. Visiting the campus really learning about what the J-School offers put a fire under me to finish my junior year of high school with a high GPA and ACT score.
Other schools I am looking at include Howard University, Indiana University, Spelman College and the University of Florida. As a junior, I’m busy studying for SAT/ACT/AP tests, but I still have a little bit of time to carefully evaluate my options and make my final college choice. It’s crazy to think that after being an only child and living with my parents all of my life, I will be on my own within a matter of a year and a half!! I know it is going to be different but thanks to all of the experiences I’ve gained from preparing for pageants, I’m ready to take on the task, put in the work and see where this next chapter of my life takes me. As you can see, I’m so excited for my future! Post below and share what you’re doing to prepare for college!
Till Next Time
