Let me tell you all about my recent trip to New York Fashion Week! It was so much fun, and it still seems like a dream!!
First of all I boarded a 14 hour flight from Brisbane, Australia, to Los Angeles and then a 5 hour flight to New York City. I think my mum was glad that I slept most of the way so she could sleep too. Once, when my mum was asleep, a flight attendant brought me a LOT of Tim Tams, and I quickly ate them all… but don’t tell my mum! ;)
Once we got to our hotel, the Marriott Marquis in Times Square (thank you Miss Nikki!!!), I was ready to shop. I took my mum straight to Sephora!! Did you know that there are only 5 Sephora stores in Australia, and the closest one to me is an hour and half drive away :(
The next day was photo shoot day! I was so excited to finally see Miss Nikki, Miss Jessica, Miss Kat and all my sister queens again. Our hair and makeup was done by Makeup By Missy, and we were photographed by the amazing Kathy Whittaker. I loved singing, dancing and sharing some Australian snacks with my sister queens in the studio. We also got to shoot in Central Park… I felt like a celebrity!
That night, we went to watch The Lion King on Broadway, and it was AMAZING!! It was my first Broadway musical, and I will definitely be going again! Afterwards, we all celebrated my birthday at Sugar Factory NYC. The drinks there are full of candy!!! But don’t worry, they were alcohol free! The best part of the night was when the chef carried out a MASSIVE bowl of ice cream, candy and sparklers and everyone in the restaurant sang Happy Birthday to me. It was so cool, and I was so lucky to be able to celebrate my birthday early with my American family!
The next morning Miss Nikki took us on a New York City tour on the double decker bus. I loved sightseeing with my sister queens, they make everything so much fun.
After that, it was time for the Sherri Hill Fashion Show, and WOW what an incredible experience that was! It’s not every day that a little Aussie girl is invited to NYFW!! We met many celebrities and it was amazing to see Miss Universe, Miss USA, and IJM’s 2015 Jr Princess Alanah walking in the show. How cool is it that? Sherri Hill is bringing the little girls dresses back?! I showed my mum all the gowns I would like her to buy me!
One of my favourite moments of the entire trip was after dinner that night when my roomie IJM Princess Blake and I took Alanah back to our hotel room and we decided to have our very own fashion show… with toilet paper!! It was so funny and so much fun. Maybe on the next trip we can do it again with all of our sister queens!
The next day, after more shopping in Manhattan, it was time to head home back to Australia. I was so tired from this crazy, fun trip that I slept all the way from NYC to LA and then all the way home from LA to Brisbane. This was an opportunity of a lifetime, and I am so grateful that I could experience it with my beautiful sisters Blake, Alyssa, A’Maiya, Lexi and Jasmine. Thank you Miss Nikki and International Junior Miss!
