Several weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Enchanted Prom. Sponsored by the Chik-fil-A of Beckley, West Virginia, it was an evening of dancing, laughter, and carriage rides for local residents with special needs.
I was humbled to be invited to attend and upon arrival was greeted with open arms and pure graciousness. As each attendee was brought to the front door, either by horse drawn carriage or limo, I was privileged to take a photo with each one. Their smiles were so big and my heart was filled with joy.
We enjoyed dancing to classic songs, did a little hokey pokey and I even got to show off my rap skills with a little Vanilla Ice! Dancing together reminded me that we are more alike than we are different - everyone just wants to share joy, love and happiness.
Their ability to demonstrate joy when faced with unimaginable difficulties is the reason I share 'Twinkle Toes.' We are all capable of dancing.
I'll be back in Beckley soon for an upcoming Buddy Walk so I can't wait to see these smiles again. Until then....
