One of the things that I LOVE to do is EAT!! My mum is always making me food because I never stop eating! When I travel overseas I enjoy trying the different foods, especially the candy. A lot of the foods that we have here in Australia are similar to what is available in the U.S, but there are some special foods that us Aussies love to eat that are hard to find anywhere else.
I know that you can sometimes find these overseas, but we have a big range here. Original, white, double coat, caramel, mango, the list goes on. I’m holding the choc-pineapple Tim Tams! These chocolate coated biscuits are really yummy!!
Yes, here we are allowed to eat our national emblem, kangaroos! They are everywhere and some days I even ride one to school… their pouches are useful to store my school bag. You can buy them as burgers, meatballs, steaks and sausages (kanga bangas). It’s not my favourite meat, but I’ve been told by some of our American friends that it tastes a bit like buffalo.
We spread Vegemite on bread and toast, just like peanut butter. It’s black, made from yeast and you either love it or you hate it. It has a strong flavour so I only like a small amount. Some people also use it to marinate chicken and I have been told it’s good to use for cleaning. When my sister queens visit Australia I will make sure they try some Vegemite for breakfast!
Here in Australia we also love Lamingtons, a sponge cake covered in chocolate and coconut usually cut up into little slices. Anzac cookies are also a favourite and they’re made from ingredients like oats, flour, sugar, butter and golden syrup.
Thanks for shopping with me!
